The lounges at Marrakech Airport
RAK's airside area fills at the same hours as the queues. A lounge then turns a wait spent standing into an hour seated — and it is one of the few comfort purchases that genuinely pays here.
The three ways in
- Walk-up or online. The simplest route: roughly €25 to €45 per person for a stay usually capped at three hours. Booking online is often cheaper and guarantees a place when it is busy.
- Through a bank card or lounge programme. Several premium cards and lounge programmes grant entry, sometimes with a guest allowance. Check that RAK is covered before you travel: it varies from year to year.
- Through your ticket. A business-class fare or high airline status gives access to the partner lounge. Low-cost carriers never grant it automatically.
What you get, without romanticising it
RAK's lounges cover the essentials: comfortable seating, wi-fi, power sockets, hot and cold drinks, and a light buffet — pastries, salads, sometimes a hot dish. It is decent, but it is not a restaurant.
The real benefit is not the food: it is sitting down and working or resting in quiet while the departure area is full. With children, a night flight or a long connection, the difference is considerable.
A coffee and a sandwich airside already cost MAD 80–120 per person. Over a three-hour wait for two, the gap with a lounge narrows sharply — and you gain seats, sockets and quiet.
When it is worth it
- Waits of more than two hours, particularly in the late afternoon or during a departure wave.
- Night flights or very early departures, where rest matters more than comfort.
- Travelling with children, who cope badly with standing about in noise.
- Business travel, if you need to work before boarding.
- An announced delay: often the moment when buying on the spot becomes rational.
When it is not
If your flight leaves less than ninety minutes after security, you will not have time to enjoy it. If you travel alone, light, and the area is calm — midday off-season — a coffee and a free socket do the same job for MAD 20.
Practical points
The lounges sit after security: factor in the time to clear border police and screening before calculating how long you will actually have. Access is usually capped at three hours, beyond which a supplement applies. And at busy times a lounge can turn people away: booking online is the only real guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
How much is lounge access at Marrakech Airport?
Roughly €25 to €45 per person for walk-up access, usually capped at three hours. Booking online is often cheaper than paying at the door and guarantees a place when it is busy.
Can you enter a RAK lounge with a bank card?
Yes, several premium cards and lounge programmes cover Marrakech, sometimes with a guest allowance. Coverage changes from year to year: check in your app before travelling.
Are the Marrakech lounges before or after security?
After security, airside. Factor in the time to clear border police and screening before estimating how long you will actually have inside.
Is a lounge worth it for an hour's wait?
Rarely. Under ninety minutes after security you will not have time to enjoy it. A lounge makes sense from two hours of waiting onwards, with children, or on a night flight.
